Insurance firm to pay ₹2.66 lakh compensation – The Hindu

A District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum here has directed the Oriental Insurance Company to pay a complainant over ₹2.66 lakh as compensation after it was alleged that the insurance firm had denied a claim with “mala fide intention”. Directing the firm to compensate the complainant, the consumer panel observed, “As a rule, the insurance company while issuing mediclaim policy should subject the insured to medical examination to rule out any kind of pre-existing disease so that the evil is nipped in the bud.”
