The IFSC codes are allotted by the Reserve Bank of India to uniquely identify the banks that are involved in an electronic transfer. It is an eleven character long alphanumeric combination. The first four characters are fixed for a particular bank. The fifth character is always zero and is reserved for future use and the last six characters are unique to a bank branch. However, if you want to know the code without creating an account, you can do so via the internet. There is an official website of IFSC code where you can know all about this code.
