Features and Benefits of SBI Travel Insurance The plan covers the expenses incurred for medical treatment of illness, disease contracted or injury sustained during an overseas travel, which is of emergency nature and necessary to be taken with other related coverages. Tenure of Insurance Under this plan, there are two trips which for which the period is fixed. These are as under: Single Trip : Here the plan is for minimum 1 day to maximum 180 days. Single Trip plan is non renewable. Multi Trip: The period for this trip is fixed at I year only and not for any other duration. Multi trip Plan can be renewed, however insurers consent is necessary and premium has to be paid at the time of renewal. Eligibility Minimum age should be 6 months and maximum age should be 70 years. Following are the categories of individuals and his/her family members who can apply for the plan with no medical check up: Residents of India making abroad trips for the purpose of holiday and business / official purpose are eligible for the plans. Foreign Nationals working in India can apply for the plans. Family means leally marries spouse, legal and dependent children, legal and dependent parents and parents in law. Extension of the Plan Tenure/ duration of Travel Insurance Plan by SBI There can be two circumstances where the plan can be extended. These are as follows: Plan can be extended with prior approval from the insurer and with additional payment of premium: Extension in a single trip is admissible for a maximum of 180 days provided that the plan tenure after the extension will not exceed more than 270 days. The premium for extension of the plan will be the difference of full extended period premium less the premium received till date. Automatic Extension: This particular extension is over and above the plan duration after the prior permission for a period not exceeding 7 days if necessitated by delay of public transport services beyond the control of the insured person. The extension under the plan is free of cost. Exclusions under the SBI Travel Insurance plan There are certain situations where the Company will not be liable to pay under the plan, these are briefed as under: If the insured person is travelling under the following circumstances, no claim will be paid. The Insured person is travelling against the advice of Physician OR The insured person is travelling for the purpose of obtaining treatment. Is receiving or on a waiting list for some specific medical treatment as declared in the Physicians report or certificate OR The insured person has received a terminal prognosis for a medical condition. If an insured person is taking part in Naval, Military or Air Force operations, no claim will be entertained. Claims will also not be given arising due to suicide, attempted suicide or willfully self injected injury or illness, mental disorder, anxiety, stress or depression, venereal disease, consumption of alcohol, drug addiction, or any loss arising directly or indirectly from any injury, illness, death, loss, expenses or other liability attributable to HIV and /or any HIV related illness which includes AIDS and/or mutant derivative or variation. No claim will be paid arising out of war whether declared or not, invasion, acts of foreign enemy, hostilities , civil war, rebellion. Revolution, insurrection, military or usurped power or confiscation or nationalization or requisition of or destruction of or damage to property by or under the order of any government or local authority. The claim will not cover the loss arising out of loss or destruction or damage to any property or any loss or expenses resulting or arising from or any consequential loss directly or indirectly caused by or contributed to by or arising from: Ioinising radiation or contamination by radioactivity from any nuclear waste from the combustion of nuclear fuel OR The radioactive, toxic, explosive or other hazardous properties of any explosive nuclear assembly or nuclear component. Claim will also not be entertained if the insured person participates in winter sports, mountaineering, riding or driving in races or rallies, caving or potholing, hunting or equestrian, skew diving or other underwater activity, rafting or canoeing which involves white water rapids, yatching or boating outside coastal water (2 miles). Also professional sports or any hazardous sports are not included unless otherwise mentioned the plan. No claim will be paid for losses arising directly or indirectly from any manual work or hazardous occupation or engaged in any criminal or any illegal act. Claims will also not be given where medical needs arises due to Pre existing disease. Claims will not be given if the Insured person is undergoing Air Travel unless he/she flies as a passenger in an aircraft which have a proper and a valid license to do so. Claims will not be given for losses or damage arising out of accidents on two wheelers unless the driver is duly qualified to drive and possess a current valid International Driving License and the Insured person is wearing a safety crash helmet. Discount Table under the SBI Travel Insurance Plan Family Floater Discount is available under the plan where the sum insured is available in totality for all the family members and not individually. However the same can be used by all or any one of them under the same plan. The discount table is as follows: Group Discount Table Claim A claim will have to be notified within and documents needs to be submitted to the insurer not less than within 31 days after the end of an insured trip. Here, the insurer can however, extend the time period for a maximum of 60 days provided acceptable evidence are furnished. Except for the cases of hospitalization, all other claims are to be settled in India. Trip when cancelled due to employment reasons, then termination letter from the company needs to be submitted. Trip when cancelled due to other insured reasons, then police report confirming the incident needs to be submitted. Trip when cancelled or gets interrupted due to reasons like sickness, injury or death of a travelling companion, then the original tickets of the insured and the travelling companion indicating travel to the same place for the same dates needs to be submitted. Request for such cancellation will be taken into consideration not less than 14 days after the First Day of Insurance as indicated in the Policy Schedule. A cancellation fee of Rs 250/- will be charged. Once the journey has commenced, there will be no refund of premium. Also once any of the insured person starts the journey, the plan will not be cancelled for the rest of the insured individuals. For Multi Trip, the insurance plans may be cancelled by the insured person provided there is no claim during the period of the insurance plan. In such case, the insurer will refund the premium. The insurer has the right to cancel the plan on 15 days notice to the insured person, on the basis of mis-representation, frauds, non-disclosure of material facts or non cooperation from the insured person.
